The recent successful India International Jewllery week was important as it allowed Indian jewellery companies the opportunity to showcase their high end pieces of gold jewellery and accessories.
India has been trying to rid their image of mass produced gold bullion jewellery. During Jewellery Week they had the chance to show that Indian gold jewellery is generally now of a higher quality and it can compete in the established markets of Europe and Russia. Gold jewellery in India is extremely popular especially around periods of religious festivals and during the wedding seasons.
Recently Indian investors have increased their demand for gold bullion, not just in the form of jewellery, but also gold bullion bars and coins. Similar to China, India have recently announced that they intend to expand their gold market.
