A lucky landlady is celebrating discovering a lump of gold bullion hidden in the chimney of her pub in Melbourne, Australia.
Publican Tracey Cooke, of The Cool Country Tavern, was cleaning the grate of her fire when she discovered a large mass. On closer inspection a geologist customer identified the find as valuable gold jewellery. It is thought the jewellery must have been hidden inside the chimney and had melted from the heat of the fire.
The value of the gold jewellery is estimated to be around £4000. The pub is a listed heritage building and chef Gavyn Crowley remarked “Its an old building someone must have hidden their jewellery up the chimney”. Ms Cooke hasn't said how she is to spend the money from her find but with the price of gold bullion rising and an increasing about of investors looking to buy gold bullion, keeping it in a more safe place might be the best option.
