Am I required to provide identification to buy gold bars?
For purchases below £5,000 the sale of gold bars can be completed without providing any form of identification. We do ask for your name and address for the invoice. However, if more than £5,000 is being spent in a single transaction or more than £10,000 in multiple transactions over a 12month period then you will be required to provide two forms of identification. This identification needs to be in the form of one piece of photographic evidence (passport or drivers licence) and two utility bills, to prove your address (utility bills, bank statement, credit card statement).
However, rather than sending the originals of these documents, we recommend you send certified copies. You can get copies certified either by an authority figure (Lawyer, Doctor, Accountant, Policeman) or you can take your original documents plus a copy of each document to the Post Office who will certify them for you for a small fee.
-
Do your bars come with an assay certificate?
Whether bars have unique serial numbers and certificates will depend on which refinery they are sourced from. Some of the european refineries do not provide unique bar numbers of certificates and it will depend on availability at the time of your order. Generally the bigger the bar the more likely it is to have an allocated bar number.
You will always receive a paper invoice from gold made simple which will act as your proof of purchase and ownership and when applicable all the information regarding your bar will be sent to you.
-
How do I know that my bars are genuine?
We are only in partnership with refiners and gold bullion producers that are members of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), as such, you can be sure that the gold you buy is of the very highest quality with a .9999 purity rating. They inspect every gold bar to ensure that it is genuine and perform regular spot checks on our manufacturing process to ensure the high quality of our bars. Every gold bar is stamped with the metal quality and its weight, and bars of 100 grams and above are also stamped with individual allocated serial numbers.
-
Will you buy back my bars?
We are happy to re-purchase any gold bars that have been bought from GoldMadeSimple at the very best rates. We offer a minimum of 98% of the spot price for gold bars.
If your gold is stored in our vault we can confirm the sell price straight away and generally transfer the funds into your GoldMadeSimple account by the next working day.
If you have had your gold delivered you will need to send your gold back to us. Once we receive the gold, we will examine the gold and confirm via email a price based on the condition of the gold and the current spot price.
We highly recommend that you send your gold by Royal Mail next day special delivery to ensure a quick and secure delivery. Please note that Royal Mail will insure you for goods worth up to £2,500, for a small fee.
-
What sort of identification do you require?
Your identification is needed to comply with HM Revenue and Customs regulations. We require one piece of photographic identity (passport or drivers licence) and two items which prove your address (utility bills, bank statements, credit card statements). We would recommend that you do not send the originals of these documents. We would prefer that you send us certified photocopies. These should be signed by an authority figure (Lawyer, Accountant, Doctor, Policeman) or you can get the copies certified at the post office for a small fee.

How can I get certified copies of my Identification?
To have your documents certified at the post office take the original documents plus a clear and legible copy of each document to the Post Office. You will need to complete an identity checking service form. The Post Office will then check each document against the original then date and sign each photocopy and stamp with the words ‘this copy is a true likeness of the original’ on each document. The Post Office will then give you back all your documents, your form and a receipt. The cost of this service is £7 and includes up to three documents.
Please note: The Post Office won’t accept cheques for this service.

What is the spot price?
The spot price is a theoretical raw price of the gold product. To this we add our margin, all wholesalers and retailers have to add a margin to spot price to cover their costs.
