Can you talk me through the pricing structure and purchasing process?

• Am I required to provide identification to buy gold bars?

  For purchases below £5,000 the sale of gold bars can be completed without providing any form of identification. We do ask for your name and address for the invoice. However, if more than £5,000 is being spent in a single transaction or more than £10,000 in multiple transactions over a 12month period then you will be required to provide two forms of identification.  This identification needs to be in the form of one piece of photographic evidence (passport or drivers licence) and two utility bills, to prove your address (utility bills, bank statement, credit card statement).

  However, rather than sending the originals of these documents, we recommend you send certified copies.  You can get copies certified either by an authority figure (Lawyer, Doctor, Accountant, Policeman) or you can take your original documents plus a copy of each document to the Post Office who will certify them for you for a small fee.

  
  
• Are your prices up to date?
  The prices on this site are updated continuously throughout the normal working day and therefore mirror any fluctuations in the spot gold price during the trading day.
  
• Can Gold Bullion form part of my ISA?
  Yes, you can invest in gold as part of an ISA, but there are limitations. You are not able to buy physical gold bullion, as part of an ISA, such as gold bars or coins. You can, however, buy shares in a gold mine or invest directly in gold through an ETF
  
• Can Gold Bullion make up part of my SIPP?
  Yes, SIPPs allow for investment in a wide ranging portfolio, and gold bullion can be part of that portfolio.  Gold Bullion is an approved asset class in the government guidelines surrounding SIPPs.
  
• Can I buy gold through my company, as part of my pension or on behalf of my trust fund?

  We are happy to deal with a wide variety of companies and funds.

  We require photo identification and two proofs of address from all of the parties involved (e.g directors of the company or trustees of a trust fund). We will also need any documentation that relates to the administration of the institution (e.g the VAT certificate).

  
  
• Can I invest in a Gold Mine?
  Yes, an alternative to buying physical gold bullion is to invest in the shares of companies that are involved in the exploration and mining of gold.  This can be a high risk investment as you are relying on the success of the company you have share in and not just the gold spot price.
  
• Can I invest on behalf of a company?

  If you wish to invest on behalf of a Company, instead of the standard ID verification, please download and complete the Company Investment: Administrator Authorisation form and return it to us along with the documents listed on the form.
  

  
  
• Can I sell my gold that you store in your vault to a third party in the future ?
  Yes you can sell your stored gold at any time. You will need to request that your gold be delivered to you, once you have received your gold you can then sell this back to us at a guarenteed 98% of the spot price or sell this to a third party.
  
• Can I transfer gold grams to gold coins or gold bars?

  You can't transfer your gold from gold grams to bars or coins without selling your gold grams first. Once you have sold your gold grams your goldmadesimple account will then be updated with the funds. You can then either request your funds back to your account or buy more gold.

  
  
• Can you talk me through the pricing structure and purchasing process?
  Firstly investors come to our website www.goldmadesimple.com and view the range of products at real time prices.  They choose which products they want and then decide whether they would like to have their gold stored in our secure London vault or alternatively they can have it delivered to their home.  The customer can then choose to pay for their gold by bank transfer or debit card.  The customer can also sell their gold back to us on-line.
  
• Do I have to buy a maximum or minimum amount?
  Orders can be made through goldmadesimple.com starting from as little as £100 upwards. We do not set any maximum limits for buying gold. We are happy to sell single units of our very smallest bars, right up to several units of our largest market bars.
  
• Do the gold bars that we sell have unique serial numbers?
  The availability of unique serial numbers and certificates depends on the refinery that a bar comes from. Usually small bars (1gr - 100gr) have neither serial numbers nor certificates. 

  
  

  The majority of 250gr - 1000gr bars will have serial numbers. 

  
  

  If at all certificates tend to be available for the bigger bars (250gr - 1000gr). Generally the certificate is sealed together with the bar and should not be separated from the bar. 

  
  

  The Perth Mint issues a certificate for all their bars (5gr - 100gr only). But the serial number is not on the bar but on the certificate only. But the bar is sealed together with the certificate and should not be separated. 

  
  

  Our bars usually come from the European refineries. 

  
  

  Examples of the refineries that our bars come from: Umicore, Degussa, Suisse Pamp, Valcambi, Heraeus

  
  
• Do you accept payment by credit or debit card?

  We only accept payment by Debit card or by bank transfer using online banking.  Please note, if you purchase your gold using a debit card, the gold can only be stored and is not available for delivery, this is because of potential credit fraud and charge back issues.

  
  
• Do you base your buying / selling prices on the current gold price?
  The price of gold is updated on the website every ten seconds, reflecting live fluctuations in the spot gold price throughout the trading day. 
  
• Do you store the Gold Bars and how much does it cost?

  Yes we do offer a storage facility. If you choose to store your gold bar or coin in the Gold Made Simple ® vault it will be held in secure premises in London. Storage and insurance is free, GoldMadeSimple will pay all storage and insurance costs for you.

  
  
• How can I transfer funds to Gold Made Simple ® so that I can buy gold?

  Before you can add funds to your Goldmadesimple.com account you must be a registered user. Click on the link below if you wish to register now.

  Below are the methods of payment we accept. 
  
  1. Bank transfer- We recommend that you pre-fund your account. If you are transferring funds after you have placed an order with us we ask that you transfer the amount of your order plus 3% to allow for any fluctuations between now and the time that your funds clear in our account. This will mean that you will have enough funds for us to process your order, even if the gold priced has increased slightly. Any surplus funds will be left in your account and you can use them for further purchases or have them returned to your bank account.

  If you are not pre-funding your account, we recommend that you transfer your funds by CHAPS or Faster Payment in order that they are received as quickly as possible. You will receive an email to confirm once your funds have arrived.

  Orders paid for by BACS which exceed £5,000 cannot be dispatched until 10 days after the payment has been received by us.
  

  If you are a Co-op bank customer please also send us an email to notify us that you will be transferring funds to us. Co-op bank transfers do not include a reference number or the name of the account holder.

  2. Debit card - We have been advised by our bank not to accept payment by debit card for gold which is to be delivered because we are at increased risk of fraudulent transactions being made using debit card. Therefore, we only allow debit card payments for gold that is to be kept in our vault storage. 

  We can only guarantee the price of debit card orders when they are placed during UK working hours (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm). If you place and pay for an order outside of these hours then the price of gold may have changed by the time we come to process your order and we may need to contact you to renegotiate  the price of your order.

  3. Standing Order - Please note that the minimum amount for a standing order is £100. 

  As the price of gold is constantly fluctuating in line with the live spot price, we can only guarantee the price of an order if the customers account has been pre-funded.

  
  
• How do I transfer funds into my account?

  To pre-fund your account you must have first registered with GoldMadeSimple. You will then need to set up a bank transfer, when doing so you MUST quote your unique GoldMadeSimple username.

  Orders for delivery should be paid for by CHAPS or Faster Payment (same day). Orders paid for by BACS which exceed £5,000 cannot be despatched until 10 days after the payment has been received by us.

  If you are a Co-op bank customer please also send us an email to notify us that you will be transferring funds to us. Co-op bank transfers do not include a reference number or the name of the account holder.

• How long will it take to receive my order?

  The majority of bank transfers will be completed within 3 working days, others within twenty four hours.

  As soon as the funds are received, the order can be processed. Generally, orders will be vaulted or dispatched for posting by the following working day. 

  Delivered orders will be posted out by next day delivery.

  The average waiting time to receive the goods, from the time of the order being placed, is usually between 3 - 7 days, depending on how quickly we receive the funds. However, during busy periods it is not unusual to have to wait between 2 - 3 weeks to receipt of gold. 

  
  
• Is Gold Made Simple ® a bank?

  No, Gold Made Simple ® isn’t a bank and because of this no interest is ever paid on any money we are holding in your account.  We do not make loans but we are also not a deposit taking institution.  No liability is created because you own the gold stored by us at all time.

   

  
  
• Is the price of gold held when I place my order request?

  If you place your order during UK working hours (Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm) and you have pre-funded your account or paid by debit card, then your order will be processed at the price on your order confirmation email.
  

  However, if you do not have sufficient funds in your account or if you have paid for an order using debit card outside office hours then we cannot hold the price quoted on your order confirmation email. This is because the price of gold is fluctuating constantly in line with the live spot price.
  

  We recommend that you pre-fund your account before placing an order to avoid this. However, if you are transferring funds after you have placed an order with us we ask that you transfer the amount of your order plus 3% to allow for any fluctuations between now and the time that your funds clear in our account. This will mean that you will have enough funds for us to process your order, even if the gold priced has increased slightly. • What are the delivery methods and costs?

  We deliver to addresses within the UK and Ireland at the below prices.

  • Up to 250 grams £7.50
  • 250 upto 500 grams £9.50
  • 500 upto 750 grams £12.50
  • 750 to 1000 grams £18.00
  • Full market bars and International delivery price upon request.

  The cost to deliver to an address outside the UK will depend upon the weight of the gold being delivered and the exact delivery address. If you order gold to be delivered to an address outside the UK, a member of the GoldMadeSimple Customer Services will provide you with a quote.

  We deliver the gold bars via Royal Mail next day special delivery, fully insured to your registered address. A signature is required upon delivery of the parcel.  Our delivery packages will be discretely wrapped.

  Once the gold has been dispatched we will send you a notification email and provide you with a tracking number for you to track the progress of your parcel.

  If the item is delivered and you are not at home, a calling card will be left and you will need to follow the instructions for how to collect your package or arrange redelivery. 

  We have additional insurance to cover any losses that might be incurred, above and beyond the standard insurance level supplied by Royal Mail, so you will not be liable for any loss.

  
  
• What is Gold Grams?

  Gold grams is where you own a portion of a large gold bullion bar. A lower cost investment, you can buy as little - or as much - of the gold bullion bar as you like.
  Because the gold bullion bar is shared between customers, you unfortunately cannot have it delivered, as you would if you bought a bar or coin.

  
  
• What is the advantage/difference in investing in physical gold over ETFs or paper gold?
  Investing in Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), or similar 'paper' investments involve 'counterparty risk' which means that your investment may be at risk if one of the companies involved in the transaction ceases trading, as you are never in possession of the gold that underlies your investment - you simply hold an electronic or paper record of your investment. Investing in physical gold, means that you directly own the gold and are able to take physical possession of it on demand, so that your investment is not subject to 'counterparty risk'. 

  
  

  ETFs traditionally offered benefits of low transaction charges and ability to buy and sell rapidly, however with advances in physical gold services, many of these benefits are matched by physical gold retailers, for example storing physical gold with GoldMadeSimple.com is currently lower cost than any ETF on the market.

  
  
• What is the spot price?

  The spot price is a theoretical raw price of the gold product.  To this we add our margin, all wholesalers and retailers have to add a margin to spot price to cover their costs.

  We are the most competitive of all the suppliers who are L.B.M.A. (London Bullion Market Association) approved.

  
  
• What sort of identification do you require?

  Your identification is needed to comply with HM Revenue and Customs regulations. • Will you buy back my bars?

  We are happy to re-purchase any gold bars that have been bought from GoldMadeSimple at the very best rates. We offer a minimum of 98% of the spot price for gold bars.

  If your gold is stored in our vault we can confirm the sell price straight away and generally transfer the funds into your GoldMadeSimple account by the next working day.

  If you have had your gold delivered you will need to send your gold back to us. Once we receive the gold, we will examine the gold and confirm via email a price based on the condition of the gold and the current spot price.

  We highly recommend that you send your gold by Royal Mail next day special delivery to ensure a quick and secure delivery. Please note that Royal Mail will insure you for goods worth up to £2,500, for a small fee.
