BBC News Interviews GMS Chief Economist, Thomas Paterson

Date: 06/12/2011

Gold Made Simple's Chief Economist appears on the BBC.

Our Chief economist was asked to appear on the the BBC to talk about the recent downgrade of the UK banks. An interesting question that came up was the ability for customers to to get money from their bank.

Ever since 2008 and the stance that the Bank of England and UK government would print as much as was needed to stop the banking system tipping over the threat of not being able to withdraw your money has diminished.

However that is not the end of the problem. You see today the question isn't really whether you can get money from the banks but rather whether you can buy anything with that money once it is withdrawn.

If the UK's Bank of England and government continuing the same policies that they've pursued for the past three years then the value of the money in your bank will continue to go down and there is the very real threat that the drop becomes dramatic and sudden.

So will you be able to get you money from the banks? Yes. Will you be able to buy stuff with it? That's a whole other story.
